Relief Printmaking For Children

Children learn how to make simple prints on paper with an easy to use print press, which is safe a portable.  Everyone is taught  how to design a print block, cut it out, prepare it with ink, and then use the press to make multi-coloured pictures which are taken home  at the end of the session. No special skills are required for this half-day workshop, just a willingness to learn and lots of energy.

This programme is suitable for children from 5 years and upwards, depending upon the venue and support staff available. Normally, approximately 15 children work for 2 ½ hours making multi-coloured prints, but a special schedule is available which  allows more children to participate during the course of the normal school day. This also depends on room size, support staff, and the willingness to work out some design proposals in advance of the actual lessons taking place.

The printmaking inks are safe and washable with soap and water, but they can sometimes stain clothing. So remember everyone should wear  workclothes on the day, and have an apron available for all of the participants.
