Creative Learning Project, Holton le Clay, near Grimsby

Text Box: Funded by the Lincolnshire School Improvement service (CfBT), this project involved 75 children from two schools in the village. Children learned how to make colourful relief prints using a specially adapted print press. Working with large groups also means that lots of teachers and adults got involved , too, as without their support programmes like these would be difficult.

The children become quite skilled at using the press and inking up their print blocks. Jonathan had overall control, and focused  all of the hard work and efforts into the creation of a large piece of work of which everyone can be proud. Teamwork and concentration were  an essential part of the process.

This piece of work is printed on cloth with special fabric printing inks, and is the result of the entire school’s efforts. It is based on a visit which we made to the nearby coast, and reflects the children’s attitude to their local environment.
